HAPPY BIDDING & THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE WORK & OBJECTIVES OF THE WOODRIDGE FOUNDATION
This is not just a school tie - it is one of the original Woodridge Prep ties, worn by Godfrey Carter, whose parents, Mervynne and Leslie Carter, founded Woodridge. It represents the very roots of our school, the legacy of its founding family, and the spirit that has shaped generations of Woodridgeans.
This is a rare and meaningful collector’s item — a tangible connection to where it all began.
A special request to the winning bidder:
We invite you, as the custodian of this piece of history, to consider donating the tie back to Woodridge after the auction. Your generosity would allow it to be professionally framed and proudly displayed in the Roger Carter Clubhouse - preserving its story and honouring the Carter legacy for generations to come.
Bid generously, knowing that you are not only securing a remarkable piece of history, but also playing a part in keeping the Woodridge story alive.
Celebrate the charm and nostalgia of Woodridge
These delightful, handcrafted wall hangings are a treasured piece of Woodridge’s past - instantly recognisable to many who walked the halls of the College. Rich in character and school spirit, they were lovingly made by Mary Baines, whose children Ian, James, Stuart and Mandy attended Woodridge. Her brother, Peter Dormehl, was also part of the Woodridge Prep story, and the family shared close ties with Roger Carter.
These pieces are deeply woven into the fabric of the school’s early years, with strong links to “Juffrou”, where similar artworks were displayed in her classroom and in the Woodpecker - making them both personal and collective pieces of Woodridge heritage.
Even more remarkably, these artworks were saved from the devastating 2017 fire, standing today as a symbol of resilience and continuity.
Each hanging captures a playful snapshot of school life, beautifully stitched and full of personality - reflecting the spirit, creativity, and warmth of Woodridge through the years.
This is more than décor - it’s a story, a memory, and a celebration of the people who helped shape Woodridge.
A special request to the winning bidder:
We invite you to consider donating these pieces back to Woodridge after the auction. Displayed together in the Roger Carter Clubhouse, they would form a beautiful tribute to the school’s history, preserving their story for generations to come.
Bid generously and become part of keeping the Woodridge story alive.
